Equestrian and Support Duties

The Loddon Group is also very active in assisting with Eventing Horse Trials in our area. Eventing consists of three disciplines:

The riders must pass the first two stages to go on to the fun bit - The Cross Country Course.  Typically the course is over 20-24 fences (about 2 -3 miles) with the fences being about 2 metres high. The horses have to maintain a set pace around the course and jump all of the fences.

Points are then awarded by fence judges for “clear rounds” and correct speed. The fence judges record each riders score on a sheet which we collect up and return to a collator who then publishes the results on the British Eventing website in real time.

For this ‘we’ get public recognition, usually a nice lunch and some expenses which we share with the group.  Many TRF groups are involved, so ‘we’ often get  invited to ride in other counties too.”
